Analytical skills

To provide an orientation towards research for the PG and MBBS students and help them develop knowledge about research. “Research Methodology” was started with an introduction to Research and shed spot light on the importance of research in their career and the significance in organizing this workshop. Following session was on Literature search and type of variables. Methodology section was dealt with illustration and Followed by lecture on sample size calculation and Sampling techniques.

Employability skill Computing skills

The objective of the course:

  • Navigate the operating system and start applications
  • Perform basic functions of file management
  • Perform basic functions in a word processor (office software) and spreadsheet
  • Manage print settings and print documents
  • Receive and send emails
  • Use a web browser to navigate the Internet.

Professional ethics

In the professionalism and ethics module the first session was an interactive session about “why did you choose to become a doctor.” The students shared their ideas. Other sessions were aimed at orienting students about their roles as doctors in the society. The students were explained about the seriousness of the profession as they would be dealing with the lives of the patients and they were also explained that there was no room for mistake. They were also explained about the consequences of medical negligence and judgmental errors by the doctors. The students were taught with the help of audio visual aids, role plays & inter-active sessions. The students were given certain cases to study and allowed to analyse the mistake and problems in the case. The principles of the medical ethics were also explained in detail in one of the sessions it was highlighted about the importance of confidentiality and consent form. The different types of ethical codes were explained to students. The duties and responsibilities of a doctor after pursuing a degree were also discussed. There was an interactive session on unethical and unprofessional behaviour. Importance of documentation in patient care and how to document properly was taken. Immunization requirements of health care professionals were explained.

Language and Communication

There are four language and communication skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These four skills of language allow an individual to comprehend and produce spoken language for proper and effective interpersonal communication.

Nonverbal communication explains the processes that convey a type of information in a form of non-linguistic representations. Examples of nonverbal communication include haptic communication, chronemic communication, gestures, body language, facial expressions, eye contact etc

Medico legal issue

To bring up an Indian Medical Graduate, where Medico legal issue solving training given during course and internship period and  is one of the essential attributes is well taken care by SVMCH&RC. Institute conducts CRRI orientation courses as well as small sessions on Medico legal issue solving skills, with the experts.
