The Microbiology department has a central laboratory in the hospital which attends to patient diagnostic services. The laboratory is equipped with state of the art equipment, used for diagnosing all kinds of infectious diseases. The various sections in Microbiology like Bacteriology, Serology, Immunology, Virology, Mycology, Parasitology, Mycobacteriology helps the Microbiologist and the Clinician to narrow down to the diagnosis with ease. The laboratory is manned by knowledgeable, experienced, technically skilled and passionate faculty and technical staff. In order to maintain the accuracy in diagnosis we regularly do External Quality Assurance Scheme (EQAS) with renowned Institutions like Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, JIPMER, Puducherry, PGI, Chandigarh. The new upcoming and modern technologies are rapidly introducing new diagnostic tools, in that way our laboratory is in the process of automation with the latest and more efficient blood culture and bacterial identification systems. Research is in our blood hence we don’t miss any opportunity to search and research, our post graduates are constantly in the learning process to bring innovations in the diagnostic microbiology. Our Integrated Counseling & Testing Centre (ICTC) along with the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) as public private partnership which helps the government in its endeavor to curtail HIV pandemic. Similarly we have also joined hands with the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) to make India Tuberculosis free by becoming a Designated Microscopic Centre (DMC).
