This department sits on the state high hence we are faced with RTA mainly. So our major contribution in the department is trauma neurosurgery. Here we coordinate with orthopedics, faciomaxillary, ENT & ophthal. Most of the cases were having severe brain injury. Hence we share the ICU with medical & surgical ICU’s. Our aim in the department was to become a complete trauma care. The other players (Ortho, faciomaxillary, ENT, Opthal) stepped after our patients become stable. We also focused on training the staff nurse for head injury care. We had regular updates, classes for the staffs in the casualty, ICU & casualty ward our service is available 24X7.
Mission
To provide highest level of compassionate, surgical care of the nervous system and we are committed to training the next generation of neurosurgeons to lead with cutting edge psychomotor skills, ethical behavior and constant refining of analytical abilities. We strive to improve public health by fostering collaborative, innovative research that maintains, restores or repairs neural function.
All the patients who had severe injury were timely intervened when it was needed. The others who had diffuse axonal injury, brainstem injury & contusions were managed conservatively. Our death rate was very low.
